Tourist is Isabel’s first body of work which represents memories and important icons from Isabel’s life so far. Isabel views her memories as souvenirs from her past. As we all grow older we become tourists to our own experiences, only able to visit what once was and never staying. Before each painting, a physical paper sculpture was hand cut and crafted, then used as reference for the final piece. The style of the work lives in the realm of  storybook whimsy while also dipping into a sense of realism by emulating the texture and feeling of the paper sculptures.
